Beautiful painted cover {Bugs on Book Covers by Rose Anderson} Love the idea of book covers as a blank canvas. We're planning some kind of "painting on old book covers" library program for next year!

Bag made from book cover. Like many books that have a three ring binding, this book lost many pages and could no longer circulate. By cutting apart a ripped purse, a book/purse hybrid "bag" was made with the help of hot glue. The cover of an art or fashion book could make a beautiful bag!

Book painted with snowman. (I painted several of these to give away as gifts!) A sponge (and a very light touch with the white paint) was used to create the snow texture. As this one was made for someone who sews, buttons were added at the bottom. A jute twine bow was tied around the cover. This might be a great project if your library receives a lot of donated Reader's Digest condensed sets and they do not sell at the book sale. :-)

These magnets are a really simple project. (A set of these might make a good gift!) All of these were made by cutting colorful images from old magazines. The paper is then mod podged face down on the flat side of the glass marble. After it dries, a magnet is hot glued on the back.
