Ecological systems theory states that behavior of an individual may be influenced as per the change in the environment.

American psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner, formulated the Ecological Systems Theory to explain how the inherent qualities of children and their environments interact to influence how they grow and develop. The Bronfenbrenner theory emphasizes the importance of studying children in multiple environments, also known as ecological systems, in the attempt to understand their development.

Ecological system theory is also called Human Ecological Theory, Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. Ecological system theory was introduced by American psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner. He claimed that the child development is affected by their surrounding environment.

Bronfenbrenner ecological theory introduced an important point. We do not exist as distinct individuals, suspended outside of all contact. There is a world surrounding each one of us, that has the power to affect us in either positive or negative ways.
