Emotional invalidation is when your emotions are dismissed, ignored, belittled, minimized, rejected, judged or made “wrong” which is in essence emotional trauma. Emotional validation is having your emotional experience understood, heard, respected, acknowledged or “accepted” by the other person even if they don’t agree, meaning emotionally they respect and accept your perceived emotional experience... but where is the fine line?
