Ancient Gate at Dan, Israel; likely that Abraham walked through this gate

The ancient mud brick gate at Dan, Israel, is nearly 4,000 years old. It is very likely that Abraham of the Bible walked through it. When his nephew Lot was taken captive, he went to rescue him and came there (Genesis 14:14). The settlement, near the most important trade routes of the region, started in the 5th millennium BC and became a fortified Canaanite city. It was conquered by the Egyptian Thutmose III and held for 350 years. The Hebrews conquered it under Joshua (Joshua 19:47).
