Purchased in 1612 the palace was a princely residence up until the French Revolution. It was declared a National Palace in 1791 and served as the House of Peers from 1814-1848. It was named the Senate of the Third Republic in 1879 and is still used as the home of the French Senate. It is located in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris.
