Smoke and Fire Quilt

May 2020

Vicki made this striking Smoke and Fire quilt which was a pattern in Fons and Porter's Quilting Quickly magazine July/Aug 2015 edition. She used a great mix of black and white prints with the perfect pop of red. I quilted it with the Gingersnap pantograph, light grey So Fine thread and Quilters Dream Blend batting.

Cotton Daisies Meet Beehive

October 2019

Imagine my excitement when I learned Renee Nanneman (fabric designer for Andover and publisher for Need'lLove) chose my Cotton Daisies pattern to create this beautiful quilt using her new fabric line, Beehive. And...it's hanging in the Andover booth at Quilt Festival in Houston! Renee was so gracious to take a couple photos for me and i asked her to make sure she was in each picture!! She is the kindest person! Renee added a gold flange to her Cotton Daisies quilt, which adds such a nice…

2 1/2" Square Scrappy Top Finished

April 2020

Looking back on things, I chose the perfect time to make a scrappy quilt. Sewing together 2 1/2" squares in a somewhat random way is really mindless. I didn't have to concentrate on anything, really. I went back and forth on what to do with the borders of this quilt and after realizing that I didn't have enough of the white fabric to do what I had in mind, I decided to add three more rows of the scrappy squares. I love it!! There are so many fun fabrics in this quilt and some go way back to…

Make A Quilt Sandwich With Pool Noodles

October 2019

Love making quilts but often find you are short on space to properly lay out all the pieces? Try this shortcut for rolling out fabric to make a quilt sandwich in a small space. Use dollar store pool noodles to keep everything in place for simplifying your pinning. The fabric rolls around the pool noodle with ease because the material a noodle is made of has some structure but with give. I had previously tried dowels and even cardboard but like this solution best, plus it is inexpensive…
