Words: Kate Coughlan 1960 to 1975 Clare Reilly grew up in Pāremata overlooking Pāuatahanui Inlet, north of Wellington, and went to Queen Margaret College. Velvet rich greens undulate in the north and west, rolling golds glow in the south and east, glacial-fed rivers meander from snow-capped peaks trapping themselves in lakes of shimmering turquoise. Top this with the bluest sky, bathe it all in a contrast rich light and it is no wonder that New Zealand is a landscape artists dream.
