Start-Up Activity Bring some local newspapers to class and share with your students a few letters to the editor. Point out that sharing opinions is a special right that we have. With this right comes the responsibility to be fair, respectful, and thoughtful. Let your students know that this chapter will help them write their own persuasive letters. Maybe students will even convince readers to take action to make the world a better place.
