Oelwein Summer 2002: The folks who did this re-paint did a fantastic job recapturing the glory days of the CGW. Other than new power I do not recall anything looking this fresh. The Maroon and Red paints of the day seemed to weather fast. I seem to recall a lot of the more weathered dull and faded Maroon units took on a kind of purple cast in some lighting conditions.
This a Four Wheel Wooden Bobber cupola, caboose from the former Coudersport & Port Allegany R.R. Built by B&S (Buffalo & Susquehanna) possibly in Galeton, PA as B&S did have a car shop when the railroad was at it's peak. This was restored by students at Seneca Highlands Vo-Tech School and returned to Coudersport March 20, 1998 as part of the Sesquentennial Celebration. The earliest of cabooses were known as "Conductor’s Cars". Seen in the right background is the Coudersport and Port Allegany…
Pere Marquette Railway, Lima Locomotive Works, 2-8-4, Class 1′D2′ h2, Berkshire Steam Locomotive (#1225) Built 1941 and is now Used on Excursion Trains over the former Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railway, now Great Lakes Central Railroad – it has 26 × 34 Inch Cylinders and Boiler Pressue of 245 PSI - 1225 cost $200,000 to Build in 1941 ($3,256,561 in current dollars)
