Cross-Sectional Anatomy of the Spinal Cord. (a) Relationships to the vertebra, meninges, and spinal nerve. (b) steal of the spinal cord, meninges, and spinal nerves, (c) cross section of the liar spinal cord with spinal nerves The spinal cord and brain are enclosed in three fibrous membranes called meninges. They separate the soft tissue of the CNS from the bones of the vertebrae and skull. From superficial to deep, they are the dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater

The gray matter makes up the core of the spinal cord in a butterfly-like shape. It consists of two posterior (dorsal) horns, two thicker anterior (ventral) horns, and two later horns on each side. A gray commissure connects the right and left sides and the middle of this is a central canal. A dorsal (posterior) root carrying sensory new fibers enter on the posterior horn. A ventral (anterior) root connects with the large somas of the anterior horn and information exits by way of this root.

Spinal cord rootlets
Rootlets, what a fun word! Rootlets of the spinal cord are arranged so that one rootlet is on the ventral or anterior side - this one contains motor impulses leaving the spinal cord, and one rootlet is on the dorsal or posterior side - this one contains sensory impulses entering the spinal cord. That dorsal side has a swelling on it called the dorsal root ganglion, which houses the cell bodies of sensory neurons. It is super cute!

Cerebro spinal fluid (CSF)
CSF is the modified colour less tissue fluid. CSF present in ventricular system of brain and sub arachnoid space around spinal cord and brain.Maximum part of CSF is formed by choroid plexus of lateral ventricle, and lesser part of CSF is formed by third and fourth ventricles. Some part of CSF is also formed by capillaries present surface of spinal cord. Quantity : 150 ml Rate of formation : 0.3ml / min Reaction : Alkaline Specific gravity : 1.005 Coagulation : It does not coagulate in…
