Mitch O’Connell is a Chicago-based photographer. As a 17-year-old, he traveled to NYC to document the now long-lost treasures that Times Square once held in the 80s.

While most of us grew up with supermarkets and shopping malls already existing; some of us remember the family-run grocery stores where your options were often limited. Others might even have had the chance to grow their own food, but once general stores grew bigger and became more convenient, there was no way back. Still, the consumerist lifestyle as we know it didn't happen overnight, and we got where we are now gradually.

A nostalgic look at the old country with a collection of more than 20 vintage photos of Italy from the 1920s through the 1970s.

Like advertising, packaging appeals to our emotions and directs our attention to specific features, while distracting attention from others.
