Petoskey Stones from Lake Michigan! One of my best friends and I visited another of our best friends in Michigan and ended up kayaking in Lake Michigan where we 'stepped' in the water to our knees and pulled out alot of these rocks to take back home with us. We were in the water for about a minute!! It was all we could handle because it was so cold!!! Labor Day weekend.

Kebyar Growth Necklace by Andrea Williams “I spend many hours on the beach collecting stones for my jewelry. I created this piece as a reflection of the flowing seaweed in the surf. I use lapidary, cold fusion, and fabrication techniques to inlay found beach stones with reclaimed / recycled Sterling silver and lab grown Peridot.”

Queen Elizabeth was spotted wearing the Cullinan Diamond Brooch, lovingly known as "Granny's Chips," at the closing ceremony of her Diamond Jubilee Celebration. The brooch features the Cullinan III and IV from the original cleaving of the 3,000 carat rough found in South Africa in 1905. It is perhaps the most valuable jewel in the Queen's collection.

Cullinan III and IV Brooch: The third and fourth largest of the gems cut from the Cullinan Diamond - a pear-shaped drop of 94.4 carats (III) and the cushion-shaped 63.3 carat IV - were originally placed by Queen Mary on her new crown in 1911. The stones were most often worn hooked together as a pendant brooch. The Cullinan Diamond, weighing 3,106 carats in its rough state, was first discovered in 1905 at a mine near Pretoria in South Africa. It was presented to King Edward V11 as a gift .
