The only model of Comforter Spaniels which support large spill vases. Spill vases were used to hold long spills of rolled paper to light additional fires or pipes ets., from an already lit fireplace. In those early days matches were expensive. Sipll vases were not intended to hold flowers (unless dried) as the unglazed interiors do not hold water. Circa 1880, Height 13 inches
