Gypsies migrated to Europe about a 1000 to 1500 hundred years ago from the areas of Sindh and Rajasthan. There is a myth that tells about how the Sassanid Monarch, Bahram Gul, who ruled Persia during the 5th century, imported around 10,000 musicians and dancers from Hindustan, and established their colonies all over his country. According to popular theories, many of these ‘ancient Meerasis’ continued their migration to Byzantine and Europe and are the predecessors of the Gypsies.

Human Towers Are Built In The 24th Tarragona Castells Competition
COMPETIÇÃO ANUAL DE CASTELLS (torres humanas) EM TARRAGONA, ESPANHA.

Houses, Mexico Photograph by Oscar Ruiz, Your Shot A few years ago when I was working as a helicopter pilot for a local radio station, we were required to fly around all of Mexico City chasing news and traffic. I remember flying up to the highway that connects Mexico City with the neighboring state of Puebla, and on my way back this housing complex that seemed to go on forever caught my attention. I decided to circle around to observe from up close what I later found out was the recently built San Buenaventura complex, which is located in Ixtapaluca, on the eastern outskirts of Mexico City. The exceptional afternoon sun reflecting those thousands of recently painted small homes just looked so beautiful, and the lower I flew the better the angle, so I just got out my camera, opened the sliding window on my Bell helicopter, and snapped a couple of shots. —Oscar Ruiz (This photo was submitted to Your Shot.)
Unbelievable but true. These little boxes look more like kit models and they all look the same. But I assure you. They're the real thing. It's the San Buenaventura Complex, located in Ixtapaluca on the eastern outskirts of Mexico City.

Philip Worthington’s installation “Shadow Monsters” invited MOMA visitors to create shadow shapes with their bodies, which a computer and projector then augmented with fearsome fangs and monster eyes.
Candid Photos of MOMA Visitors Posing Next to a Video Installation
The Museum of Modern Art in New York created an interactive system which allowed visitors to create shadow puppets. The system provided a complete package, with sounds and animation included in the show. Photographer Joseph O. Holmes saw the perfect opportunity in this exhibition and decided to capture what is going on behind the curtains.

Huh! cool! Floating Bridge in Bangladesh - the rapidly growing water hyacinth on the Buriganga River keeps boats from traveling on the water. So locals connected 34 wooden boats together to create a bridge. Problem solved!

An anthropologist proposed a game to African tribe kids. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told them that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad? "I read a story about an anthropologist who proposed a game to the kids in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that who ever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?"
THIS IS WHY I LOVE AFRICAN CHILDREN SO MUCH!!!! - An anthropologist proposed a game to the children of an African tribe. He put a basket of fruit near a tree and told them that whoever came first would win all the fruit. When given the signal to run, the children held hands and ran, sitting down together to enjoy the prize. When asked why they had run together, if only one could get all the fruit, they said, UBUNTU, how could one of us be happy if everyone else is sad? UBUNTU in Xhosa culture means: ”I am because we are” ♥

Is Facebook Making Us Lonely? Stephen Marche reflects on the way technology has changed our experiences of society and solitude. "Narcissism is the flip side of loneliness," he writes, "and either condition is a fighting retreat from the messy reality of other people." The Atlantic.

The strange anthropological lesson of social media is that human beings, if given a choice, often prefer to socialize alone. #socialmedia #alone #lonely
