3 Fartlek Workouts to Increase Pace - Run the "100 Steps Fartlek." WarPick up the pace for 10 strides (counted on one leg), then run slowly for 10 strides. Run hard for 20 strides, then recover with 20 strides. Work your way up in 10-stride, alternating increments until you're feeling winded or hit 100 strides, Once you've mastered making it to 100 steps, increase the challenge by going back down in 10-step increments. Finish with a five-minute jog to cool down. Do once every two to three weeks.

Tabata workouts include 20 sec of high-intensity cardio (ie, burpees, lunges, or jumping jacks) with 10 sec of rest. That’s 1 rep, and typical Tabatas consist of 8 intervals for a total of 4 min. Remember that the key is to go as fast as your body with allow. Example: Do as many squats as you can for :20 sec, and then take a :10 rest. Do another set of intense squatting for :20 followed by a :10 break. That’s 2 intervals in one min. Try a different move for the other intervals to make it harder.
