Tom Homewood has a lovely way of capturing the underpinning thing-ness of things. Is there a German word "echt" for this? If so, they are certainly echt.

Hop Gallery based in former Star Brewery in Lewes hosts some excellent local artists. Dawn Stacey is not someone I've heard of before, but like the naif style and local inspiration.

"Neil Gower’s work is increasingly sought after by companies as prestigious as Faber & Faber and Conde Nast. Book and magazine covers are a strongpoint, but in a successful twenty-year career he has also excelled at creating maps, cartoon strips, logos, advertisements, posters and many other forms of design and graphic art, for clients all over the world." And he does ace covers for Viva Lewes too.

Peter Messer is perhaps my favourite local artist. He works and lives about 500 yds from where I live. He also paints scenes mainly from within the central area of Lewes (which I walk through every day) - and has been termed hyper-local. His paintings glow (he uses his own mixed gesso tempera) and contain beautifully surreal elements.

It's time for another Neil Gower artwork - this time a Viva cover, which transmuted into a Lewes Ladies FC poster. Can anyone spot the mistake though?
