Once this stone belonged to one of Indian princesses who wore it in her necklace. Pavel ordered to make a golden ring with this diamond for him. Until 1920s when the ring was disassembled jewelers called this stone the Blood-Red Ruby, as Pavel ordered to glue a red-colored pavilion (backside) to the ring's diamond.
