I’m not sure what I just said to my husband but we had a great night with The Art Base last month talking with Genna Moe about writing, painting, arts advocacy, hosting a writer’s residency, wrangling children and dogs, and sharing a creative life. #art #artist #isacatto
For Father’s Day I am recirculating the blog post I wrote about this singular man in the kilt — Henry Edward Catto, Jr. #fathersday http://bit.ly/2MzYrWX
Three pots. Three cats. Compositional allure in a small Positano square. I did get yelled at by an elderly gentleman who thought me cheeky for snapping this. I tried to explain I was an artist gathering color inspiration but to no avail. Next time I will ask the 🐈s their permission. #isacatto #art #travel #cats

A candid group shot from a photo shoot for an article by Michael Cleverly for Aspen Magazine Please note that this is just a small sampling of so many great women artists in the Roaring Fork Valley - there is a much bigger and vibrant artistic community beyond this photo, so be sure to seek them out The Art base Anderson Ranch Arts Center Carbondale Arts to name a few. And I will try to shout them out as I roll through these places myself. #supportyourlocalartists
Red and yellow color inspiration in my backyard — lupine and autumn copper rose. #garden #isacatto
Have hat will travel. @thehatshop. Hat credit @aspenhatlady @lasegreta where we are staying in Umbria. Getting ready for the Italian vibe -- we are headed to the Amalfi coast and to Umbria in a week. This will be our third visit (this was taken in Sicily in the main plaza of Siracuse) and we are looking forward to a couple of weeks with NO agenda. Just walking, sketching and slow living. But I will still be posting and writing so come along. And travel tips welcome. #isacatto #travel
My Colorado landscape is sublime, but we are now in a real drought and with that the threat of forest fires. This painting was inspired by the Storm King fires and is called Fire on the Mountain. Www.isacatto.com/shop #isacatto #art #artist
This sample detail is a portent of things to come. Noodling with designs and flailing a bit but having fun with @spoonflower. This one was inspired by a Moroccan textile.
A warm welcome to Francisco Cantú — our @aspenwords writer-in-residence. Don’t miss his event at: @willitsarts in #basalt June 12th and pick up his free book through @aspenwords ”Catch and Release” program at their office in @theredbrick.
One year my father brought me back a kaleidoscope from some far flung country and I spent months behind the peephole marveling that one flick of the wrist could provide a fresh composition. It’s the subtle influences that come back around, and I used that memory in the design repeat of a broad tailed hummingbird I painted for a print series for the Aspen Institute Ideas Fest.
Painting inspired by ‘e’ or Euler’s number. I wanted to engage numbers in a new way and found there was an architecture, a different kind of reveal as I painted row after row of squares that looked like chiclets. I found cadence in irrationality and a new correspondence with color. As I painted I recognized important numbers in my life, some truncated, some fully intact like a strand of pearls. #mosaic #grid #art #isacatto
