Unlike the blatant advertising of a Sears Roebuck catalog page, the copy of this Ye Planry page tells a story. "Access to the stairs and every room save the dining room is obtained from the hall. Sears Modern Home No. 147, circa 1909. This historic plan looks remarkably like the 2006 design for the "Katrina Cottage." The Sears advertisement states: "This is a very popular style of bungalow and is being built in large numbers in a great many localities."

Sears Modern Home No. 144, circa 1909. This house was advertised as a "fancy nine-room two-story bungalow with bathroom." Selling for $882, Sears claims that "This house would ordinarily cost $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 if you purchased from your local dealer a high grade of material equal to what we furnish, and obtained your plans from your local architect...."
