Working through 30 years of summer breaks and then retirement, two Iowa teachers molded an empty backyard into an A landscape. Strolling through their gardens offers lessons in creating a great yard with a limited budget and lots of patience.

Tilt Solution Plants edging a path work wonders to offer views and tame a side yard. Add a path or two along planting beds on your slope; it'll help make garden maintenance easier. Gravel and flagstones form a path that hugs the bottom of the hill. Repeated groupings of shade-loving plants flank the sides of the walkway, creating a sense of intimacy.

A privacy hedge row does not have to be a line of the same plant material, mix it up for a variety of color.

Would love to spend a quiet morning or lazy afternoon cuddled up here

brilliant idea for outside the back door....

And then, God made puppies...

    Can I live here?

Lots of windows. High ceilings. Very nice. Just a place to have another "aaaahhhh.... moment. " Add a cup of coffee and a friend and that is a piece of heaven.

I could spend hours here..... Aaahhh.. the moments.

A great way to use those gross wire hangers. Install a low rod and free up floor space in your closet by hanging flip flops and flats. Genius!
