Tell the class to keep the noise level down so the balls won't bounce. I imagine that this would encourage my 5th and 6th graders to BE noisy. lol.  but there are some other good ones on this site.

Great classroom noise management during group work. When noise level gets too high balls bounce high. Have students keep voices at a level that keep the balls low.
