Applied ethnography is using ethnographic approaches such as observing and describing a group/culture, specific behavior, values, ritual, etc. to understand and inform stakeholders, design products, services, systems, and organizations. Ethnographic methods are often idealistic and require large budgets and time. But if we are devising products in a fast-paced competitive world, we need to optimize how we do "field studies" and make the learnings more measurable.
