Designed by award-winning architect Michael McCann, GRAIN brings a strong local bar feel to the city’s harbour front. It sports an eye-catching central island bar clad in giant curved slabs of sustainable Queensland Blackbutt timber over a frosted glass inner core.

The best bars are hidden in the most unlikely places and this is exactly what people love about York Lane. Nestled between skyscrapers and a train station, York Lane is a chameleon; transforming from a casual espresso bar by day to a swanky boutique bar by night.

Palmer-and-Co The incredible attention to detail continues through to a very impressive selection of rums, whiskeys and tequila. The menu, however, labours a little too hard on the prohibition/speakeasy theme when the room, drinks, service and music do the job for them. That said, the drinkables really are a cut-above and they’ve spared no expense fitting the bar out with stunning glassware, bar tools and bartenders who exercise an incredible amount of care and skill with their drinks-making.

Mojo Record Bar - Basement, 73 York St. The Mojo story goes that it was a record shop where vinyl heads would gather and often go for a beer afterwards – so they thought, why not just have the beers here? Now, it’s moved a little down York Street, and built a bar out back.
