Immaturity Confused with Symptoms of ADHD? Research shows dx more likely with youngest children in class...
ADHD: Why the Youngest Kids in a Class Are Most Likely to Be Diagnosed Read more: http://healthland.time.com/2012/03/06/adhd-why-the-youngest-students-in-a-class-are-most-likely-to-be-diagnosed/#ixzz1oMeFMz7v
New research finds a correlation between a child's date of birth and an ADHD diagnosis. In the study, children with birthdays closest to the cutoff date for kindergarten or first grade (and therefore the youngest students in the classroom) were more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than their peers, suggesting that the behavioral problems exhibited might be more an issue of relative immaturity than disorder. Time magazine reports on the study and its findings.
