Little Richard ...he could be from Mars... and, "in the '50s" he was from Mars!
"Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" is a soul song, written for Motown act The Undisputed Truth in 1971. Later in 1972 the song was remade as a 12-minute record for The Temptations, which was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and won three Grammy Awards in 1973. While the original Undisputed Truth version of the song has been largely forgotten, The Temptations' version of the song has been an enduring and influential soul classic.

The Supremes were an American female singing group and the premier act of Motown Records during the 1960s. The Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown's acts and are, to date, America's most successful vocal group with 12 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
