London, off the beaten path...Neal's Yard, Covent Garden, London. Neal's Yard is a small alley in Covent Garden between Shorts Gardens and Monmouth Street which opens into a courtyard. It is named after the 17th century developer, Thomas Neale. It now contains several health food cafes and new age retailers that are all painted in a variety of colors.

An outstanding example of a small City space, which makes the maximum use of scarce resources. Designed by the City of London Architects and Parks Departments in 1971.
