If we step back from the picture, quiet the chattering narration, and take a look at both from a neutral distance, then we can let them go and experience life directly without an internal script. Effective contentment and happiness can be found in this direction.


In this TEDxTalk, Professor Willoughby Britton tells us that happiness is not about getting what we want. She discusses our mental qualities as habits we practice and she sheds light on an important link between a healthy mind and contemplative practices.

Corporations spend many billions of dollars annually on advertising in order to get us to spend money. It works or they wouldn't keep doing it. These same corporations pour many millions of dollars annually defending violence in media, saying it has no effect on children or adults (by the time a child is 18, they've witnessed 250,000 violent murders in media). Think it through. Be careful what you ingest into your mind, body, and heart. Deconstruct media as you engage it...don't be a sponge.


Reflections in the mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of 'beauty', 'handsome' or 'attractive'.


Choose and direct yourself to be peaceful inside regardless of what's happening outside.

RSA Animate - The Empathic Civilisation

Roszak proposes that in our psychological depths we are deeply connected with nature. He suggests that a greater balance in our relationship with nature will naturally accompany healthier relationships between the genders and greater individual psychological health.
