This may look like iceberg pieces, but it's not - it's sea ice, photographed in Twillingate in May 2009. What's the difference, you ask? Sea ice is new ice that forms every year, whereas icebergs are thousands of years old. (Geoff Meeker photo) #twillingate #sea ice

I snapped this iceberg in the summer of 2005, right outside the entrance to St. John's Harbour. That night, there was a story on the TV news about how the iceberg had cracked in half, causing a spectacular show. I had missed it by minutes.

Peter Bell was a visual artist who created amazing art. Perhaps more importantly, he was an arts critic with The Telegram who didn't give a damn who he offended. I profiled Peter Bell for The Newfoundland Signal in 1990. It's an important, culturally significant piece, if I do say so myself. You can read that article here: http://www.thetelegram.com/Blog-Article/b/11154/Photo-Feature-Peter-Bell (Photo by Geoff Meeker)

Katie Baggs - Dum Dee Dum. Great video from a rising talent. I love that this was shot at St. Michaels Printshop, a great space.

Dawn's Creations are special indeed. Each piece is handmade from putty, and they are not painted - those are the natural colours of the putty. So yes, the check patterns are actually layers of coloured clay. Quite impressive. For more info, write dawns.creations@hotmail.com (Geoff Meeker photo)

One of our funniest and most-talented entertainers, Mark Critch, enjoys a coffee on Water Street. This guy has the quickest mind of anyone I've ever met - he comes up with new material constantly and continuously. To read my profile of Mark, please visit: http://www.thetelegram.com/Blog-Article/b/11419/A-Fathers-Influence Please forgive the lack of quotation marks in the article. Somehow, they got stripped out when the paper changed its site architecture. (Geoff Meeker photo)

Retired Newfoundland media personality Ken Meeker (left), famous for many things but perhaps best known for his Collect-A-Wreck campaign, poses with his brother, some guy named Howie, who I think was a hockey player or something. :) (Geoff Meeker photo)
