Making Progress on the Scrap Front
(Groan) I am still working on getting to the bottom of the scrap bin. Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts commented that scrap management is a full time job and I think she is right. Thought I would share the second quilt top I just finished. For this one, I sorted out all my fabric bits with black or grey backgrounds but also had some bright colors. I cut everything into 2 1/2" squares. As I was sorting, I came across a bunch of different shades of blue and turquoise solids that were old…

Strings/Crumbs projects update — Quilted Twins
I've been trying to give one good sewing session each weekend to working with strings/crumbs. Then I put them away and feel no guilt about ignoring them in my sewing room during the week. As to my success at actually using them up - alas...like most of us that use scraps, it doesn't really seem to
Chinese Coins, process
Chinese Coins 78 by 90 inches. 3510 pieces--1755 prints/plaids, 1755 solid blue. I have been enjoying the process of making this quilt. It was inspired by Lori's Juniper Flats quilt on her Humble Quilts blog. My pieces are cut 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches, like hers. I decided to use a constant, Kona's Candy Blue between the coins. The fabrics are from my bin of scraps cut this size, plus pieces I cut from my mother's scraps which include fabrics from both of my grandmothers. I also added some…

Doing Good Stitches Lately
Here's what I've been up to for the do. Good Stitches charity bee lately. I love getting to make these blocks every month. I get to try all kinds of things I normally wouldn't think to try, and the girls in my circle are awesome. For example, Diane is so awesome that she designed a whole new quilt for us this past month, complete with mock-up graphics and tutorials for two different types of blocks. It's going to be the "Candyland Quilt." Could not be a more appropriate name. And Leigh is so…

Make-A-List Monday - Back to the Real World....
Hi, all! Wow - it's tougher coming back to the real world than I thought it would be! We spent a wonderful ten days in Hawaii celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary - the weather was fabulous just for us! There is nothing better in mid-winter than a long stretch of sun-filled, beautifully warm days. I do feel rejuvenated - but the jet lag is still wreaking havoc with my sleep schedule. Let's hope I can stay awake long enough to get this posted!! OK, so I didn't have a list last week, so…
Stash Statement Blog Hop - Fire Pit
Welcome to my turn on the Stash Statement Blog Hop. Here is my version of Fire Pit. Finished Quilt I was thrilled when Kelly asked me to be a part of the blog hop. That was the easy part. But it was tricky to pick just one because there are several pretty quilts in this book. Finished Flimsy I picked Fire Pit, because it is such a striking pattern. This pattern requires Tri-Rec rulers. I have had these rulers for a while but had not used them and this was the perfect opportunity. Secondary…
