Oprah picked a good one
"Night" by Elie Wiesel, such an intense book, but so good.
Night is Elie Wiesel's masterpiece, a straightforward and deeply disturbing autobiographical account of how he survived the Nazi death camps...
Night, Eli Wiesel. I need to re-read this. It was a short book, but effective in opening the mind to the danger of indifference.

Kings of the Earth, Jon Clinch
Kings of the Earth by Jon Clinch - “There's nothing else in this world the color of a school bus. They call it yellow but it's not quite yellow, and it's not orange either. I'd say it's something somewhere in between margarine and Velveeta. It's not a natural color. Then again I guess if we wanted kids to grow up natural we wouldn't put them on a school bus in the first place.”
