The halls of this building represent contrast. This hall is dark to begin with. Luckily, the windows provide the light and makes this photo unique. The other element that makes this different is that it was taken in black and white. The shadows are now very noticeable. It has that look that makes it curious.
Before there was gas or eletrical light, people had to spend time in only candel or fire litten 'homes'. We have more free time than those people, but they were more in contact with nature and its beautiful light than we are today. Even well litten homes can't make us feel more alive than a sunbeam on a grey day.
