No 1950s dress would be complete without a giant, pouffy crinoline petticoat underneath! And Debbie Reynold's is a perfect example of pouffiness. #1950s #petticoat

Actress, Debbie Reynolds married singer, Eddie Fisher, at a resort in The Catskills on September 26, 1955. She was 23 and he was 27. They were considered America's sweethearts until 1959 when, in a scandal that rocked Hollywood, Fisher divorced Reynolds to marry actress Elizabeth Taylor, the widow of his best friend Mike Todd. After five decades of not speaking, Debbie and Elizabeth were finally able to put the incident behind them. After Elizabeth Taylor passed away in 2011, she left a gift to her unsuspecting former best friend. Debbie received a sizable and very valuable suite of sapphires...a necklace, earrings, and ring.

#Cinémoi, Channel 259 on DIRECTV, sends Happy 81st Birthday Wishes today to the legendary actress/dancer/singer Debbie Reynolds who has been entertaining the whole world now for over 60 years!
The 1950s saw the invention of the hair dryer. Unlike the hand-held hairdryers of today, a 1950s hair dryer was a large cap, attached by a large tube to a heater. The cap went over the head; when the heater was plugged in and turned on, heat went through the tube and into the cap. This was, essentially, a home version of the big, conical hairdryers you would see at a salon.

Debbie Reynolds (born April 1, 1932) is an American actress, singer, and dancer. Initially signed at age sixteen by Warner Bros., Reynolds' career got off to a slow start. When her contract was not renewed, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) gave her a small but significant part in the film Three Little Words (1950), then signed her to a seven-year contract. However, it was her first leading role, in Singin' in the Rain (1952), that set her on the path to fame. By the mid 1950s, she was a major star.
