"Rainforest Canyon." Taken in Oneonta Gorge, Oregon. Apparently it's just a few miles east of Multnomah Falls on the historic highway. The hike is great for all ages that can walk and it's about a half mile, but straight up a river and has a cool log jam. The canyon only gets about an hour of daylight to the floor, so if you want any warmth, start the hike at 11:45-12:15ish. There's a giant waterfall at the end, with a pool you can swim in.
Over one million people from the UK explore the Highlands on foot every year, and there is no reason why you shouldn’t either. Trails exist for every ability level. If you'd like a little more comfort, consider hut-to-hut hiking, where no carrying of camping gear is required.
