Carver is said to have written the Mayflower Compact, & was its 1st signer as well as 1st governor of the new colony. Another famous Pilgrim is William Bradford. He also signed the Mayflower compact & served as governor. Most came from the eastern shires of England, where Separatist sentiment was the greatest.
