Lt. Annie G. Fox was the first woman to receive the Purple Heart for combat. She served as the chief nurse in the Army Nurse Corps at Hickam Field during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941.

Douglas Weaver served in WW2 from 1943o1045. He studied art after the war, but did not turn his art into a form of therapy until he was asked to paint a picture of the U.S. Airborne parachuting into St. Mere Eglise. Now his paintings are being showcased in Roswell, NM.

The Tuskegee Airmen #wwii #courage

James M. “Jimmy” Stewart (1908-1997), Colonel, U.S. Army Air Force 1941-45. WW II. Rejected by the draft for being underweight, he enlisted as a private in 1941 and became the first major American movie star to wear a military uniform in WW II. Promoted to 2nd Lt. in 1942, he flew 20 bombing missions over Europe earning 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses and 4 Air Medals. In 1968 he retired from the USAF Reserve a Brig General.

I don't know who this man is, but he reminds me of my Dad. Both men are Honorable Veterans, who fought to make this country great. Don't dismiss what they fought for. Honor them, cherish them, and Thank them.

Nearly 67 years after coming home from war, Vincent Benedict was overcome with emotion Wednesday when an Army officer presented him with a long-delayed Prisoner of War Medal. Benedict comes from : Bryn Mawr PA.
