Only read nine of these so far. I think The Glass Castle is next, thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law who is the perfect person to recommend a book. I wish I had her in my classroom to cater to the continual requests for good recommendations in the genre of (fill in the blank).
Great Girls Your Daughter Should Know (Before she reads Twilight) -- This is seriously one of the greatest lists I've ever seen. I read almost all of those books and they made me, in part, the strong woman I am today. I cannot recommend this list enough.
A wonderful piece of historical fiction by a first-time author. She writes through the eyes of two narrators, one a young Irish girl, an indentured servant, and the other, a young female slave, on a plantation in Virginia at the turn of the 18th century. I loved the book and it's characters that live on after the book is closed.
