Letter Pops- For a few dollars and a few minutes you can create some great LETTER POPS for your classroom. You will need a set of magnetic letters and jumbo craft sticks. Glue a magnetic letter to each craft stick. (I LOVE E6000 glue that you can get at Walmart or hobby stores.) Pass these out to the children to hold up as you sing alphabet songs, such as “Alphardy,” “Who Let the Letters Out?” “Letter Pops”, etc.

A twist on another bulletin board...we made the butterflies using books we had weeded from the collection! The kids loved to try and figure out which book it was from! We titled it Reading gives you wings...Thank you Susanne (my TA) for taking my idea and running with it!

Students read a book, designed and made a tshirt to advertise it and then tried to "sell" it to their classmates w/o giving away the ending—fun! Involves public speaking, persuasion, summarizing the main idea, graphic design that gets a message across, etc.

This has been CVHS Library's MOST talked about display in a long time! We asked staff and students to take a "selfie" with their home bookshelf in the background and email it to us. We dubbed them "shelfies," a term I hadn't seen before so we're taking credit for coining it! :) We have them displayed on a BB and also in an album on our library FB page. www.facebook.com/...
