To accomplish that weathered wood finish, I first rubbed Minwax "Special Walnut" over the entire piece. Once that had completely soaked in, I rubbed a light coat of Rustoleum "Weathered Grey" over the entire piece. Basically rubbing it off once I rubbed it on, because I didn't want to cover up the wood tone underneath.

Paint Paris Gray over gold frames and let them dry really good. Sand them with a wet rag and then use a coat of clear wax and then a coat of dark wax. After coating the dark wax really good, Take an old t shirt and dab some clear wax on it, rub over the dark wax to take off all the excess. The result is amazing.
