The design is clearly based on the contemporary Prussian Leibhusaren, who were the initial source in 1813. The posthumous contenders for the honour of naming the Negroni cocktail.
France, naval pilot, 1991. This aviateur navale of the flottille 14F "Le corsaire borgne" (the one-eyed corsair) wears the emblem of his unit, a skull with eyepatch and red bandana, on his right shoulder. The 14F were the first in the French navy to fly the American made Vought F4U-7 Corsair from aircraft carriers. The unit was dissolved in 1991.
