As we begin our "Lenten Journey," this is where Christ's Passion begins. How He agonized here, he cried, He asked God the Father if "You will, let this cup pass me by." He experienced loneliness, abandonment, and isolation. None of His disciples stayed awake with Him. and he "KNEW" His betrayal was coming shortly. He saw all of our future sins to come. He was afraid. This here is where His great suffering and Agony begin. The Garden of Gethsemane.
There were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping night watch by turns over their flocks. The Angel of The Lord appeared to them and said. "This day in David's city a Savior has been born to you, the Messiah and Lord. Luke 2:8
Jesus told this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine and go after the lost sheep? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
