Édouard Manet (French, 1832–1883). Boating, 1874. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Oil onto Canvas. Manet summered at Gennevilliers in 1874, often spending time with Monet and Renoir across the Seine at Argenteuil. The artist’s brother-in-law, is thought to be the sailor but the identity of the woman is uncertain. I find the colouring in this painting very dull and uninspiring, the blue of the dress blends too much with the blue of the river and overall its not very eye catching.
On Friday, The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that 'more than 400,000 high-resolution digital images of public domain works in the Museum’s world-renowned collection may be downloaded directly from the Museum’s website for non-commercial use.' Even better, the images can be used at no charge (and without getting permission from the museum). In making this announcement, the Met joined other world-class museums in putting put large troves of digital art online.

I’m constantly making lists of what to do, this helps me. Papers have been piling up on my desk at school, I need to reorganize that this week. I may create another one of things to do at home….. Because it is SO HELPFUL."

Maybe this will help me stay organized this year... This is such a simple idea I found online, but it is helping me SO MUCH with keeping organized this school year! I’m constantly making lists of what to do, this helps me. Papers have been piling up on my desk at school, I need to reorganize that this week. I may create another one of things to do at home….. Because it is SO HELPFUL. This is smart and doesn’t waste tons of paper!

workbox system using dish drainer- this is a great space saver especially for the older kids- once the box is done- they have completed the activities for the day! Would also be able to hold file folders, books, and "flags" which I envision to be markers where I tell her to go do a hands-on activity.
WV Urban Hippies: My version of the workbox system. Slip of paper telling them where to go for their bigger projects. Hide treats and surprises too and give them treasure maps along the way.
