Love this idea for an art/writing project. Students can draw themselves and write about themselves...

Beautiful Things... Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. - Genesis 2:7...God has given us all special purposes that we need to discover and pursue. One He has given me is making beautiful things out of what the world has deemed useless and broken. I do this in my work with my special education kids. Finding creative ways for my kids with physically broken bodies opportunities to participate in recreational activities and expressively communicate. And I do this in my hobby of art and crafting. I love using old, useless and unconventional things to make something beautiful. A mixed media painting, repurposed garment or refurbished old items. It too is God's work to make what is useless and make it into something beautiful. This is exactly how we were created. He took something as useless as dust and formed a human being. But He didn't stop there. He then filled our dust-made beings with His Holy Spirit. Turning us into powerful, purposeful, life-filled beings. Transforming our once useless selves into something might so that we can impact a broken world. How beautiful is that?! When preparing for and crafting this week's project, think about how you are taking odd, unconventional art materials (nails, wood, string) and making them into something beautiful. Creating beauty out of nothing. Just like our Creator.
