In the studio... working with lots of new colors to create this painting. At first I wasn't certain about the yellow and bright blue hues but now I'm loving them together and it's reminding me of some of my favorite sunrises.
I take photos of my process to remind myself there's always an ugly stage. But recently I've also liked taking photos at stages of a painting where I'm happy with it but still feel it's not finished. That reminds me that it's okay to let go and paint over something I like to get to something I love.
There are just a few sale spaces left for the Fall 2018 session of BUSINESS FOR CREATIVES (which starts September 2nd). For years I stopped painting. All of my work ended up in the basement or trash. One of the things I adore most are the stories you share with me. Sometimes you email photos because my books have inspired you to paint with your children. Other times youve taken one of my classes and say that picking up a paintbrush again has changed your life. I keep a virtual folder of all of these photos and stories and I have a decorated box on my bookshelf where I keep all of the mail you send too. It completely melts my heart and keeps me encouraged and inspired. Thank you!

It wasnt until I started adding whimsical characters to my artwork that I finally felt connected to my paintings. When I add my characters there is something in the eyes that hits my heart. I feel a connection and I don't want to paint over that the way I always covered up my abstract paintings. Its almost like looking into a mirror and I find that I paint until I feel a connectedness with my heart.
I'm so excited to paint with everyone in the next session of Serendipity 2 - Loosening Up With Mixed Media which just started. This is the perfect class for anyone looking to paint more freely. Registration is open until June 18th and you can find all of the details over on my website at JulietteCrane.com.
