The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga Really enjoyed this. Great for a book club selection.
The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. Booker Prize winner 2008. In this darkly comic debut novel set in India, Balram, a chauffeur, murders his employer, justifying his crime as the act of a "social entrepreneur."
The White Tiger A book worth listening to
Book #6 was The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. This book was a Man Booker Prize winner, but honestly I was not a big fan. I had high expectations going into this novel, but was disappointed by the slow plot and lack of emotion. The story is told from the viewpoint of a murderer and I expected more darkness or coldness I suppose. But perhaps it was meant to be more disturbing because he wasn't dark and twisted.

If Adrian Tinniswood's The Verneys was the best book I read in 2010, Netherland by Joseph O'Neill was the best of 2009; also I love this book cover, which (for some reason I do not understand) the European publishers did not use at all, opting instead for something completely rubbish----an NYC street scene with yellow cabs, as though we [backward pastoral folk] here in Europe would lose it in our pants just to see an uber-urbanized NYC street scene! Anyway, despite this, good book
