Grades are not required by law, so you can decide if your child needs grades or a report card in elementary school. While a few people do need grades for some reason (or a child wants them), a reason not to grade most children is so the child won't stop learning once he has a grade, certificate or reward! For the high school years, a formal transcript with grades is recommended.
