Studio Tip: If your stone sits a little too low in your bezel, try using plastic gift cards (or credit cards!) as a substrate. Trace the outline of the stone on the card with a fine-tip permanent marker, then cut the card and set it in the bezel before adding the stone. The plastic is waterproof, cushions the stone, and evens out any roughness in the base. Originally appeared in: "Riveting on a Curve," by Richard Salley, September 2012 issue Art Jewelry Magazine
