Looking for an excuse to buy those Christmas Colored M&M's? I thought it would be fun to create a Christmas themed M&M sorting project for my daughter. First, she separated the colors (I didn't realize that there were two shades of green in the mix but she didn't seem to notice). I color coded the circles on the wreath so that she would know where to place the M&M's. This project took a little longer than I thought it would, perhaps because there were plenty of extra M&M's to eat! I've made…

Very Hungry Caterpillar Snack
How long has it been since we've done a Book & a Snack? Too long! Yesterday we munched and crunched, Very Hungry Caterpillar style! This snack is super simple! All you need is to print out the Caterpillar Straw Template I made, attach to straws, pick your favorite snacks from the book (or whatever you have on hand), and let the kids use their straws to "nibble" through their food. The kids also each got a cupcake to decorate at the end of our snacktime. Click image below to open and print…

Cupcake play dough counting and number recognition
Play dough is one of our favorite things to do and the kids have been asking to play with it for the last couple of day so we took it out. I added a little fun twist to it for some learning time. Jake and Cate love to pretend play like they are cooking, so I took out the cupcake liners and cupcake pans they made pretend cupcakes. We added candles to the cupcakes to sing Happy Birthday. After they put the candles in their cupcakes I had them count them and match the correct number to the…

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom & Monkey's
Today we made our first "Snazzy Snack" of the year. I previously blogged about this when I first began blogging and got this idea from Christina Bainbridge. Last year was my first year doing the "Snazzy Snacks" and the kids loved it. I look forward to doing them again this year!! Today we read the book Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom and then we made Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom Trees. This snack was inspired by a pinterest (I Heart Crafty Things) find that I stumbled upon one day and knew then I…
