Hand print art Handprint crafts-- An easy way to do this would be to cut out a large heart-shaped piece of cardstock and have your class dip their hand once in paint and then put their hand print on it. This is a first day exercise and after kids agree to class rules they will "sign" or place their hand print on the paper to show they agree to class rules.

I do not believe that giving students a list of words and telling them to memorize it for a test is super effective. I think this spelling activity would encourage students to make relationship to the words, while reinforcing some vocabulary as well.
