I would truly love it if people understood this fact. No matter how much you discipline the child, they will go back and do it again. It takes time, patience, and gentle reminders to work towards fixing the negative attributes. In our case, it has been medicine, a wonderful school, and a lot of creative thinking.
This chart is good information about meltdowns. *** But please remember that adults with ASD have "meltdowns" too, although they are very different***. As an adult it's not possible to throw a tantrum so the issues shown on the diagram manifest differently. (And differently in different ASD adults.)
