Lammas Celebrations. Pagan festival celebrated at the beginning of August at the height of summer. These days Harvest Festival has taken over, and that is celebrated in Autumn. Would be great to make fun plaited and knotted bread rolls with kids, as well as making corn dollies with paper straws.
(Mother Goddess by Wendy Andrews) Lammas (Lughnasdh), it's time to begin reaping what we have sown throughout the past few months, and recognize that the bright summer days will soon come to an end. It's the season when the first grains are ready to be harvested and threshed, when the apples and grapes are ripe for the plucking, and we're grateful for the food we have on our tables. Lammas calls for a feast!
Painted bread rolls would be highly appropriate for a Lammas feast. These require parental help as they are painted half way through the baking process. The paint is a past made from cocoa powder or ground coffee.
